For the Science assignment, the Venn diagram is two circles that overlap each other. In one circle, you write characteristics of plants that are unique to plants (and trees do not have these characteristics). For example, under plants you could write "do not always have roots." Not all plants have roots but trees always have roots - so this information will not go in the overlapping parts of the circles. On the other circle, you would list the characteristics that are unique to trees - for example, "must have a self-supporting trunk." In the middle (overlapping part) you would add characteristics that both trees and plants can possess. For example, "leaves." Both plants and trees can be leafy. Both plants and leaves can have flowers, fruits and seeds. Use the jot notes you took in class from the video of about plants to complete the Venn diagram. For example, trees have a trunk and other plants have stems. Trunk would go under the circle that belongs only to trees and stem to the plants. In the middle, you could do say, can be made of woody material (the trunk is made of woody material in trees and in other plants, the stem can also be woody material).
The point of the assignment is to compare the characteristics of a tree and a plant. What are some differences and what are some similarities. If you are not understanding the Venn diagram, it is okay to simply make a T-chart. On one side, list the characteristics of trees and on the other, list the characteristics of plants.
